Woolwich beheading: The West should review its ties with Saudi Arabia – by Mahpara Qalandar

wahhabiThe beheading of a British soldier by two Salafis (also known as Wahhabis) outside Woolwich barracks is a very serious affair. These two assassins were inspired by the Salafi ideology financed by Saudi Arabia. That the assassins were shouting “Allah o Akbar!” as they slaughtered the soldier shows how ingrained the Salafi ideology has taken roots in a tiny but powerful minority of Muslims in the Westi.

Unfortunately, not unlike previous occasions, the discourse by Western media and politicians remains vague and obfuscating. Instead of directly specifying the Wahhabi-Salafi identity of the Woolwich terrorists, they are being described as Muslim extremist or Islamists thus hiding the fact that  Wahhabi-Deobandi militants (not Sunni Sufis, Shias, Ahmadis etc) are responsible for almost all terrorist activities in the West since and including 9/11 attacks. How can one hope to overcome the menace of Wahhabi-Deobandi terrorism (manifested in the shape of Al Qaeda, Taliban etc) if there is a reluctance to correctly specify the culprits?

The West should realize that the likes of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE have never been its friends in the War on Terror. The 9/11 and 7/7 terrorists were either Saudi Salafis or inspired by the Salafist ideology. This ideology has a Manichaean view of the world in which Salafism stands for good and the rest of the world stands for evil. It is the basic tenet of Salafism to convert the world to ‘good’ by persuasion or sword, whichever works quickly.

But unfortunately despite all the information available, no action has yet taken against the Salafis while all eyes are focused on Iran going ‘nuclear”. Pro-Saudi Wahhabi agitators like Anjum Chaudhry are given a free hand in England to spread hatred against everything and everyone non-Salafi. The British government gives them welfare money. Because of this, they have ample time to poison young Muslims, Wahhabis and Deobandis in particular, and demonize the entire non-Salafi world.

On its part, Saudi Arabia has a complex network of ‘Islamic’ Wahhabi-Deobandi schools and ‘charity’ institutions throughout the world. The Saudis buy weapons from the West worth billions every year. Last year alone, Saudi Arabia bought 4 billion dollar worth of weapons from the United Kingdom.  This is their way of bribing the Western governments. These billions of dollars kill every anti-Salafi voice, be it Sunni Sufi (Barelvi), Shia, Ahmadi, Christian or Jew. The result of that Salafi ideologues have been poisoning Muslim youths in the West.

According to WikiLeaks cables, Saudi Arabia serves as a cash machine for terrorists worldwide. Hillary Clinton’s memo highlights Gulf states’ failure to block funding for groups like al-Qaida, Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/dec/05/wikileaks-cables-saudi-terrorist-funding?CMP=twt_gu

nervecentre21In the wake of the Woolwich beheading, a lot has been written on how to tackle ‘homegrown’ terrorists. Yes, the British government should deal with the Wahhabi-Deobandi Islamofascists with the full force of law. But more importantly, the British people and the lawmakers should confront Saudi Arabia which is the mother and propagator of Islamofascism. Salafi-inspired schools and charities should be banned and very close watch should be set on money transactions made from Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern monarchies. Saudi Arabia should be told blank point that its criminal act ivies will not be tolerated.

It is not certain that the Western governments are willing to take on Saudi Arabia given the clout the Saudi money has in Western capitals in the shape of powerful Saudi lobby that serves to silence several “independent” media houses, think tanks and politicians. But if the evil of Salafism is not tackled now, the barbarians will soon flatten the world.
