A high-ranking Iranian legislator has called on the UN Security Council to hold an emergency meeting to study the ongoing massacre of Shia Muslims in Pakistan, and take effective measures to stop violence against the community in the Asian country.

Chairman of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday that the mass murder of Pakistani Shias has created a very deplorable situation, and has aroused popular sentiment among Shia Muslims, the entire Muslim world as well as the international community against the trend.

He also criticized Western countries’ silence on the ongoing massacre of the Shia community in Pakistan.

“The Westerners and the UN tend to hold emergency sessions on minor issues, but exercise apathy towards such (highly critical) developments,” Boroujerdi argued.

He added, “The Security Council should hold extraordinary sessions to investigate the massacre of the Pakistani Shias and bring the ordeal to an end as soon as possible.”

On Saturday, Iranian clerics and seminary students strongly condemned international community’s silence over the massacre of the Shia Muslims in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.

In protest to the massacre of Pakistani Shias by Saudi-backed terrorists (Takfiri Deobandi militants of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi LeJ aka Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat ASWJ), all seminaries in the cities of Tehran and Qom were closed, with teachers and students taking to the streets to voice their protest to the silence of international organizations.

In a statement, Chairman of the Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Mohammad-Reza Mahdavi Kani severely criticized the silence of international organizations over the massacre of Pakistani Shia Muslims. The senior cleric also called on religious scholars and students to gather to vociferate their resentment against such brutal acts of terrorism.

The pro-Taliban Deobandi militants (ASWJ-LeJ) have been involved in a violent campaign against Shia Muslims in Pakistan over the past years.

Shias living in Kurram tribal region have been facing a humanitarian crisis since November 2007, when the pro-Taliban groups cut off the area from the rest of the country.

Local sources say at least 21,000 Shia Muslims have been killed in the region since the start of the campaign.

Several Shia religious gatherings have also been targeted in different parts of the country over the past few months. Shia Muslims in Pakistan and Western countries have demanded that Pakistan government and army officials suspected of support to Deobandi militants (ASWJ-LeJ) must be tried for crimes against humanity.

  • Mushahid Hussein is a Punjabi Army tout. He conveniently put the blame of Shia killings on Pakistan’s “Azad” foreign policy; completely ignore his sibling establishment touts LeJ/SSP.

  • what a concern shown by Iranian government regarding shia killings in pakistan blatently meddling in our internal affairs. Shiaand sunnis are coexisting in this part of the world for centuries and would continue to do so.no where in our constitution has written that ‘head of the sate or execute in pakistan would be from sunni fiqah only’.scores of pak rulers and still were followers of shia school of thought. unlike iran where under the islamic constitution only shia yes only shia can become the head of state and government. what about the cruel policies being maintained upon sunni population of siestan va baluchistan in iran by iranian government. being 75 percent of the population in the province what sort of autonomy and slot in government services is given to them…? should we take this matter into UN..? why these saudis and iranis are playing their turf war in our beloved land. shia and sunnis are brothers and are quite capable to solve their problems without the interference of any so called muslim country.

  • Iranian Parliament To Summon Pakistani Ambassador Over Shiite Killings
TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian lawmaker said the Iranian parliament plans to summon Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran Khalid Aziz Babar to express its outrage over the massacres of Shiite Muslims in the South Asian country.
The Iranian MPs also plan to issue a statement in condemnation of the violence against Pakistani Shiites, Rapporteur of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said on Saturday, press tv reported.
On Saturday, Iranian clerics and seminary students strongly condemned the fact that the international community has been mostly silent over the massacres of Shiite Muslims in terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
In protest over the killings of Pakistani Shiites by foreign-backed terrorists, all seminaries in the cities of Tehran and Qom were closed, with teachers and students taking to the streets to censure international organizations for failing to take up the issue.
They also chanted slogans in support of the innocent Pakistani Shiites and accused the United States and Israel of being behind the anti-Shiite terrorist attacks in Pakistan.
Militants have been waging a violent campaign against Shiite Muslims in Pakistan for several years.
Shiites living in the Kurram Tribal Agency, which is located in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, have been facing a humanitarian crisis since November 2007, when extremist groups cut off the area from the rest of the country.
Local sources say hundreds of Shiite Muslims have been killed in Kurram since the start of the campaign.
Shiite religious gatherings have also been targeted in various areas of Pakistan over the past few months.

  • “… and accused the United States and Israel of ….”
That is typical of Iranian “wisdom”. Killing is being done by Takfiri Whabi-Salafi-Deobandi terrorists — the “strategic assets” of Pakistan military, in synch with the capitulation of PPP and PML(N) —- per part of Whabai purification campaign ordered by evil Mamlikat of Saudi Arabia —- and Iran keeps on blaming US and Israel. Why would US want to kill Pakistani Shiites? Why would Israel do that? The Iranian “wisdom” has paralyzed, once a powerful country in the region, and now they are deliberately obfuscating the ‘purification campaign’ in Pakistan. It is in the interest of World Shiites that Iran reviews its policies and begin taking stock of realities. Jews, Christians, Hindus and others are not enemies of Shia Muslim Faith. Only and only Nasibis are, that is it.

  • پاکستان میں شیعہ قتل عام کے خلاف ایران میں مظاہرے
    Published on 10. Mar, 2013

    My friend Mr. Rizwan,

    1. You said “… blatantly meddling …”. This kind of narrative is use by spokespersons of foreign offices/state departments to shun off criticism from other countries. This is obviously not situation here. Do you expect Iran to remain silent on the on-going genocide of Shias in Pakistan? Doesn’t Pakistan interfere in the internal affairs of other countries (India, Israel, Afghanistan etc. etc.) when Muslims are killed there? Isn’t that double standards?
    2. You have accused Iran of “cruel policies” and discrimination against Sunnis. Tell me what is the evidence? Does Iranian constitution bars a Sunni to become Head of the Gov’t or State? Please quote the relevant article. Do Iranian military backed armed terrorists bomb Sunni mosques in Sestan Balochistan? Do they send suicide bombers to kill Sunnis? Do you have any statistics about the discrimination against Iranian Sunnis? If so, print it … to be reliable it must be from any independent sources (not SSP booklets).
    3. There is an old issue between Persian speaking Iranians and Sistan-Balochistan, it is historically ethnic and not religion based. In modern times religion has come into Iranian politics after 1979 revolution. The issue of Sestan-Balochistan is older than 1979 revolution. Don’t Pakistan have ethnic issues? Can we categorize Mohajir vs. Pashtoon conflict as Barelvi vs. Deobandi?
    4. Current on-going problem in Pakistan is not between Sunnis vs. Shia, it is between Takfiri Wahabi-Salafi-Deobandis versus Shia and Sunni Barelvis. Aren’t the same people who attack Shia Imambargahs also attack Barelvi shrines and mosques? Then how comes it is Sunni – Shia.
    5. I would be very glad if any “Islamic country” takes the matter to UN, provided there is a genuine oppression of Sunnis in Iranian Balochistan. Ask Pakistan Govt to take the initiative.(In fact there is a discrimination against Jews and Bahais in Iran, that would be good case for Pakistan to plead on.)
    6. Iran is the country that provided military support to Pakistan during 1965 and 1971 wars. Pakistan warplanes used to take refuge on Iranian air bases to escape Indian bombings. Please go to WikiPaedia or google.
    7. Iran-Saudi Proxy war theory: If this were true Pakistani Shias would not have been taking hits, for decades, from Nasibi terrorists almost one sidedly. Iran has a proxy in Lebanon; and you may know how tough they are; that is a standard of the toughness of Iranian proxies. Nasibi SSP-LeJ-TTP are gone berserk only because they have strong Pakistan military backing and protection under PPP and PML(N) regimes. It is the State of Pakistan versus Barelvi and defenseless “Kafir” minorities. That is what I honestly believe.
