#LeviesJawans: We condemn brutal murder of 21 Pakistan soldiers by Deobandi militants. Still indecisive, Gen Kayani?

Here’s a message from irrepressible Noam Chomsky to an indecisive Pakistan army chief General Kayani: ‘If you want to stop terrorism, then stop initiating it and participating in it.’

We condemn brutal murder of 21 paramilitary soldiers abducted during a militant attack on check-posts (on Thursday 27 December) in Peshawar by Takfiri Deobandi militants of Sipah Sahaba Taliban (SST). According to media reports, the Levies personnel have been shot dead and their bodies have been dumped in Hasan Khel area of FR Peshawar. All the bodies have been identified and families of the victims have been informed about the killings.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Mullah Omar’s subsidiary in Pakistan, has claimed responsibility for the killings of security officials.

It may be noted that Mullah Omar has two main subsidiaries in Pakistan: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which operates in Pakistan’s tribal areas (FATA), and Sipah Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) which operates in settled areas of Pakistan (e.g., Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar, Lahore etc). Both SSP and TTP are comprised of Deobandi militants and both organizations have blurry boundaries. Therefore, some analysts in Pakistan describe them as Sipah Sahaba Taliban (SST) to refute the wrong impression that SSP and TTP are two separate entities.

The shooting of the 21 paramilitary soldiers came a day after Pakistan Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud said in a video message the militants were unwilling to disarm and also rejected the democratic system of government. In the same message, Mehsud also said that that TTP and Afghan Taliban were two integral parts of the same body. Taliban leader also shamed Pakistan government and army on their denials and obfuscations. See this post: https://lubpak.net/archives/235703

The soldiers were abducted from two government paramilitary camps outside Peshawar on Thursday and the bodies were discovered about four kilometres away. “One was found alive but wounded and admitted to hospital while another managed to escape unhurt.” “The hands of soldiers were tied with rope before they were shot,” An official told AFP.

Apparently, the tribale Jirga earlier said the families of the abducted soldiers were poor but were ready to even pay ransom for release of their loved ones. Financed by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries, Deobandi militants are not short of cash, thus offer of ransom money was turned down.

Clearly, Taliban in FATA and Sipah Sahaba in urban areas of Pakistan very well deserve a powerful surgical strike. They must be uprooted from the core of Pakistani cities and tribal areas like a cancer is removed from the body.

For statistical data and activities of Takfiri Deobandi militants in Pakistan, review this post which reveals that 9 out of 10 terrorists in Pakistan are Deobandi militants of Sipah Sahaba Taliban. https://lubpak.net/archives/231552

Ever since General Kayani has assumed responsibility as Pakistan army chief in 2007, Pakistani State, Pakistan army in particular, has shown consistent indecision and weakness in taking tough action against Sipah Sahaba Taliban (SST). In contrast, there is sufficient evidence that Pakistan army tried to provide legitimacy to the Deobandi militants by sponsoring their participation in the ISI-sponsored Defence of Pakistan Council (DPC), an alliance of Pakistan army-sponsored Jihadist parties including Sipah Sahaba (currently operating as Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat ASWJ) and Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD). Pakistan Army chief also played a key role in the release of arrested Deobandi militants of Sipah Sahaba and Taliban from Pakistani jails. However, the price of such indecision and lack of action against Takfiri Deobandi militants has been excessively high for Pakistani civilians (particularly Shias, Sunni Barelvis, Ahmadis, Pashtuns etc) as well as police and lower ranks of army soldiers.

The following articles demonstrate General Kayani’s shameless leniency and indecision in dealing with Deobandi militants of Sipah Sahaba Taliban.

Once again, here’s a message from Noam Chomsky to Pakistan army chief General Kayani: ‘If you want to stop terrorism, then stop participating in it.’

It is hard to think of any other country which continues to allow its own civilians, policemen and jawans to be killed and then manipulates narrative to obfuscate in pursuit of unrealistic strategic goals in neighbouring countries.

  • In August 2012, I wrote:

    Enemies of Pakistan have once again attacked Pakistani nation, this time beheading 12 Pakistan army soldiers who were cowardly abducted by the Jihadi Deobandi-Wahhabi terrorists (Lashkar-e-Jhangvi / Taliban) a few days ago.

    The latest incident shows that the LeJ-Taliban terrorists are nobody’s friends. It was foolish of Pakistani generals to nurture and treat them as a strategic asset of the state. The beasts indoctrinated with narrow minded Deobandi-Wahhabi ideology are single major threat to national security of Pakistan and the entire region.

    Only a few days ago in Quetta, the LeJ-Taliban released a video of beheading of two Shiite Muslims.

    If General Kayani and other commanders of Pakistan army are sincere with Pakistan, we ask them to take the following steps:

    1. Immediately cut down all kind of support to the Taliban, Al Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (including Sipah-e-Sahaba aka Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat), Jundullah, Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) and other affiliated militant groups;

    2. Arrest all leaders of the banned Deobandi-Wahhabi terrorist groups including those operating with new names; they must be executed in full public sight as per Pakistani law because of the crimes they have committed against Pakistan army and civilians;

    3. Order immediate military operation against the Taliban, Al Qaeda and LeJ/ASWJ hideouts in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, Kurram, Orakzai, Mastung, Quetta, Karachi and all other areas of Pakistan where such rats are holed in;

    4. All arrested leaders and operatives of the Taliban, LeJ/ASWJ, Jundullah, JeM etc must be tried in summary military courts and executed in full public sight as per Pakistani law;

    5. Ban all articles, writings, books, TV programmes which glorify or justify terrorism and violence. Reform the curricula in all military academies and staff colleges where readings of Dr. Safdar Mehmood, Ansar Abbasi, Javed Chaudhry, Maudoodi, Mosharraf Zaidi, Ejaz Haider, Sayyid Qutb, Jamaat-e-Islami, Deobandi-Wahhabi ideology must be banned and replaced by articles and books by Dr. Mubarak Haider, Dr. Hoodbhoy, Kamran Shafi, Dr. Muhammad Taqi, Dr. Ayesha Siddiqa, Dr. Ayesha Jalal, Nadeem F. Paracha and other credible analysts and scholars.

    6. We also suggest that the U.S.A. administration must now overcome its lethal fantasy of dialogue and peaceful settlement with the Taliban, a fantasy in which they were lured by Pakistani intelligence agencies. USA and Pakistan are still stalking the Taliban as a peace partner while they continue to kill innocent civilians, women, religious and ethnic minorities, behead children, poison girls schools and slaughter soldiers and civilians. Any policy based on dialogue with the murderous Taliban is madness. Just last month, Barack Obama used the NATO summit to press Afghan leader Hamid Karzai to engage with greater urgency with the Taliban about a political settlement in Afghanistan. “Political settlement” is Obama-speak for surrender to jihad. The media’s silence on proposed talks with the Taliban-LeJ terrorists borderlines on sedition. (Source)

    Pakistan needs firm action against Takfeeri Deobandi-Wahhabi terrorists.

    Pakistan army must stop treating them as our strategic assets. Exactly what is the ultimate goal for Pakistan in having the Taliban controlling land in Afghanistan and perhaps a few isolated parts of Central Asia? Why can’t we learn from China which has changed some of its strategic policies over the decades so that it could get economic development going and thus being able to raise the standard of living for its citizens. For Pakistan to get economic development going, it will need to change from the current path – direction that it is on. Based on news and trends, Pakistan is unable to change direction and will continue going around the world with the Begging Bowl and dealing with ongoing massacres and beheadings within its own territory (Source).

  • Usual thugs are blaming the civilian government for the function (security) which is the primary responsibility of Pakistan army.

    Some of the closet Takfiri Deobandis are blaming CIA, RAW, Mossad etc to deflect attention from the Takfiri Taliban and Sipah Sahaba.

  • General Kayani: Line them up right from Karachi to North Waziristan, right from Hakimullah Mehsud to Malik Ishaq. Kill them all. Entire nation will be with you. Have courage, trust your uniform and God.

  • Where is our Media, where is our civil Society, why they do not condem on this brutual and henius crime, all r affraid from Taliban, they cry on Salala Attack , but them voices r mum on this attack

  • Off course, everything is because of drone attacks and corruption and bad governance in the country. Taliban are fighting for Islam and they deserve to be supported. My foot! Shoot them in one go

  • Does Pakistan army really need national consensus to take action against the Taliban? Read Wusatullah Khan’s article on BBC Urdu

    In the meanwhile, Ejaz Haider continues to differentiate between bad Taliban (TTP) and good Taliban (Afghan Taliban).

  • “Once again, here’s a message from Noam Chomsky to Pakistan army chief General Kayani: ‘If you want to stop terrorism, then stop participating in it.’”

    ^ This is just intellectual dishonesty. Not only do you quote him incorrectly, but you lie and make it look as if he said this to Kayani. No. Noam Chimsky never said anything to Kayani.

    This comment of his was made when he was talking about the U.S. He said that if the U.S. government wished to stop terrorism, they could end a great deal by not participating in it themselves (in Iraq, Afghanistan, etc).

    The Pakistan Army is no doubt an anti-democratic institution which has committed war crimes in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhua, but to resort to such dishonest and unsavory tactics to condemn them is just pathetic.

    I’ve noticed that the writers on LUBP have a knack for shoddy scholarship and tasteless exaggeration. If we keep writing like this, I fear it will reflect very badly on our image as both Pakistanis and liberals.
