Hamid Mir’s letter: The tape drama was organized by an intelligence agency after I wrote an article against a serving general of the Pakistan Army, General Nadeem Ejaz, who was involved in Benazir Bhutto’s assassination

Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir, who has been linked by several Pakistani websites to the killing of a former intelligence official by the Taliban, refutes the accusations in this e-mail sent to The Washington Times in response to an article that appeared in Tuesday’s editions:

Dear Sir,

The Washington Times has published a story today “Terrorist Hit Puts Pakistani Reporter Under Fire” (by Eli Lake – Reporter – The Washington Times – 25 May 2010)

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2010/may/25/terrorist-hit-puts-pakistani-reporter-under-fire/pri

WT said that Hamid Mir has old links with extremists because he interviewed Osama bin Laden. What about my interviews with Nelson Mandela, Tony Blair, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, General Richard B Myers, Richard Armitage and Hilary Rodham Clinton? First of all, I am not the only one who interviewed Osama bin Laden. Robert Fisk interviewed him before me. Peter Bergen and Rahimullah Yousafzai are other examples. Now there are contradictions to be noted. Daily Times claiming that intelligence agencies have presented a report against me to the [Pakistani] Prime Minister.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010%5C05%5C20%5Cstory_20-5-2010_pg1_6

Initially a government senator was also attacking me on different TV channels but Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira clearly said on May 25 that Hamid Mir is a target of a conspiracy and government have nothing against him. President Zardari has also cleared it to me personally that nobody from [the Pakistan People’s Party] is involved in this conspiracy. Family of Khalid Kahwaja openly declared me a CIA agent and also accepted that one son of Kahwaja works for al Qaeda. Come and see that banners are hanging on Murree Road and other areas of Rawalpindi in my support. These banners have been placed by traders, students and other sections of life. Common Pakistanis are with me but a section of ruling elite is against me. I am forced to believe that some elements in the intelligence used my media colleagues against me because I was not in control of any intelligence outfit. One of my crimes was that I wrote an article against a serving general of the Pakistan Army.

I am still not sure that who is my actual enemy because nobody have come out openly against me yet. There is no FIR (police complaint), no official inquiry and nobody contacted me for any investigation. According to my information, this whole drama was organized after one of my articles against a serving Army General, Nadeem Ejaz, was published in The News on April 26.This General was involved in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto. U.N. report pointed fingers towards him but President Asif Ali Zardari government failed to nab him.

http://www.thenews.com.pk/top_story_detail.asp?Id=28496

This conspiracy was hatched by some elements in the intelligence outfits with the help of a newspaper published from Lahore. This newspaper Daily Times was the first to publish this scandal against me on May 16. DT published a one-sided story with a one-sided analysis on the front page. DT tried to establish that I am a Taliban collaborator and I am responsible for the killing of Khalid Khawaja. In fact I received threatening e-mails from the same group which killed Khalid Khawaja and I mentioned these e-mails in my column of Daily Jang on May 6. I will produce many other facts in front of inquiry committees of (Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists). This column is in Urdu, but I mentioned that Asian Tigers is threatening media.

http://jang.com.pk/jang/may2010-daily/06-05-2010/col6.htm

Secondly, I can send you dozens of columns written in English and Urdu in which I criticized both Taliban and security forces but I am the one who visited Swat when it was a no-go area and I wrote columns about the atrocities of Taliban against innocent women. Read these two articles in English.)

http://www.thenews.com.pk/print1.asp?id=156813

I predicted victory of security forces against Taliban.

http://www.thenews.com.pk/daily_detail.asp?id=176353

I did maximum [TV] shows against suicide bombings. Many scholars who opposed suicide bombings in my show were killed by Taliban. Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi, Maulana Hasan Jan and Maulana Merajudin are three examples. I also received threats and then I did shows against the threats.

Now come to the Khalid Khawaja. I had no personal enmity with him. I never resigned from Daily Ausaf because of Khawaja sahib. Please contact the administration of Daily Ausaf in Islamabad. I resigned because I joined Geo TV in 2002. Khawaja sahib participated in my shows many times and interestingly, I asked him some of the questions you raised in your column. He was a multi-dimensional personality. He was assassinated in April and my alleged conversation with him surfaced in the 3rd week of May. Nobody is owning this tape. Nobody is interested to know that who is actually responsible for the death of Khawaja sahib? Nobody raising question that who actually sent Khawaja sahib to tribal areas? This tape drama had only one objective: Some forces wanted me to shut my mouth. That’s all.

Khalid Khawaja was killed in North Wazirastan. Everybody knew that he was kidnapped in Mir Ali but the alleged conversation said that he was with Tariq Afridi of Darra Adamkhel. According to media reports Taliban killed him because they suspected him of organizing an attack on their commander Hakilmullah Mehsud. There is no drone attack against Tariq Afridi till today. Before the assassination Khalid Khawaja confessed in a video message that he was an agent of ISI and CIA. But my alleged conversation said that he was not ISI but a CIA agent.

http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/pakistan/04-khalid-khwaja-killed-qs-13

Khalid Khawaja was assassinated on April 30. Intelligence agencies remained silent for three weeks. In the meanwhile I did a show on the road with the families of abducted political workers in front of parliament house on May 5. One journalist, Shakeel Turabi, also spoke in my show and claimed that his son was kidnapped by agencies. That was the first-ever talk show with the families of missing persons in which a government minister Firdous Ashiq Awan was speechless in front of woman crying for their dear ones. Many people feared that I will face trouble after that show. Just read the comments of the viewers who clearly said that “Hamid Mir will no more be tolerated.”

http://pkpolitics.com/2010/05/05/capital-talk-5-may-2010/

After three weeks of the murder of Khawaja, a fabricated audio tape was provided to some journalists and Daily Times published a story against me on May 16. They tried to link me with Taliban.

http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010%5C05%5C16%5Cstory_16-5-2010_pg7_8

Above conversation is very interesting. Hamid Mir is saying that Khalid Khawaja was not ISI but a CIA agent and the unidentified militant is claiming that Khalid Khawaja was involved in the killing of some Army Brigadiers in Rawalpindi. Here is the so-called conversation:

UM: Yes, he used to ask my companions to work in Pakistan as we say. Actually, the killings of brigadiers in Rawalpindi might have been arranged by him, I think.

HM: It might be possible, but I have been watching this guy for the last 13 or 14 years and he is a suspected man.

Again Hamid Mir saying that Khalid Khawaja is linked with Americans and the militant saying that a son of Khawaja is with al Qaeda.

HM: He (Khawaja) himself has confessed in front me that he had links with William Casey. Ok! Leave William, ask him about the Qadiyanis, because I personally believe that Qadiyanis are worse than infidels, what kind of links does he have with Qadiyanis? What relationship does he have with Mansoor Ijaz? Why does he use his money? Why does he go everywhere with him when he comes to Pakistan? Why does he bring him to the mujahideen?

UM: Yes, he has a son in al Qaeda.

Question, is that if these militants are Taliban and Kahwaja was also involved in terrorism then why they killed him? I think this militant is fake and somebody recorded his voice and fitted in a so-called conversation with me. In this conversation I said that I resigned from Daily Ausaf because Khawaja hatched a conspiracy against me. In fact, I resigned Ausaf in 2002 because i joined Geo TV. Here i am sure that they used my doctored voice but incorrect information about me never helpedthem.

Now you are accusing me to have links with Taliban but the son of Khalid Kahwaja saying that Hamid Mir is a CIA agent. He said these things on Royal TV and his statement was also published in Daily Times. (Zaid Hamid also declared me a CIA agent last year).

http://www.daily.pk/khalid-khawaja%E2%80%99s-son-osama-points-finger-at-hamid-mir-17709/

I will not say anything about the son of Khawaja sahib because he lost his father but let me tell you one thing clearly. I never wanted that Khawaja sahib should be killed. I never had this kind of conversation with any unidentified man and I am open to any inquiry. Lastly I must say that I will be vindicated because I am innocent.

Lastly, will you please raise this question that no common Pakistani can enter in Tribal Areas without the local ID card these days? We cannot go beyond Bannu but how did Khalid Khawaja along with two other people reached to North Waziristan? Who allowed them to enter from Bannu to FATA? Who actually sent them? Why I am the only target? I never sent them to North Waziristan. Why my critics are not interested in saving the lives of other two hostages?

Kindly publish my clarification that I am open to any kind of inquiry. From the day one but today government spokespersons have given me a clean chit.

Regards,

Hamid Mir

  • Finally, Hamid Mir has taken a bold and honest stance.

Here is the article which forced the Military Intelligence to dump their old friend, i.e., Mr Mir:

Maj-Gen Nadeem Ejaz: in the dock for many crimes

    Monday, April 26, 2010

    By Hamid Mir

ISLAMABAD: For the first time in the history of Pakistan, political leaders from the Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have united against a serving Army officer. They want the government to start investigations against the said Army officer not only on one count but also on many others.

The dubious role of former DG Military Intelligence Major General Nadeem Ejaz was an important unifying factor behind a large consensus between the PPP, the PML-N, the PML-Q and other parties on the 18th Amendment. Nadeem Ejaz was responsible of victimising not only the PPP and the PML-N but also abused his unlimited and unchecked powers against some important leaders of the PML-Q as the DG MI. At one stage in April 2008, he wanted Musharraf to replace General Kayani because Kayani was not ready to involve the Army in safeguarding the political interests of Musharraf but this effort failed.

The former DG MI is accused of kidnapping many political activists not only in Balochistan but also in the Punjab. Nadeem Ejaz once kidnapped not only the security guards of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain but also picked up the brother of a sitting MPA of the PML-Q for settling his personal scores with the then chief minister of the Punjab. Background interactions with leaders of these political parties revealed that notorious Nadeem Ejaz had become a monster in the last days of the Musharraf regime and even after the retirement of Musharraf as Army chief, Nadeem Ejaz was directly reporting to him bypassing new Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.

A UN Commission has recently claimed that after the assassination of Benazir Bhutto on December 27, 2007, the crime scene was hosed down actually on the orders of the then DG MI Major General Nadeem Ejaz. The government has constituted a three-member committee to pinpoint the responsibility for hosing down the crime scene on December 27, 2007. Political circles in Islamabad are of the view that the role of Nadeem Ejaz was not limited just in the hosing down the crime scene on December 27. He should be investigated thoroughly because he was directly or indirectly related to many other important events like the assassination of Akbar Bugti in August 2006 and massacre in Karachi on May 12, 2007.

Very few people know that Nadeem Ejaz started his political role in December 1999 when he was a colonel posted in Lahore. He forced many Nawaz Sharif loyalists to leave the PML-N. He blackmailed many PPP leaders to extend their support to the Musharraf regime. A businessman associated with the PPP, Mian Arshad, was grilled and tortured to give information about the secret accounts of Jahangir Badar. Nadeem Ejaz called Mian Arshad many times and asked him to cooperate. When there was no positive result, Main Arshad was arrested and tortured. Late Benazir Bhutto tried her level best to rescue Mian Arshad by writing letters to human rights organisations but Mian Arshad lost his life due to torture in the custody of Army officials.

Nadeem Ejaz personally met PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique in December 1999 and told him to leave Nawaz Sharif. After exchanging hot words with Saad, he contacted his brother Salman Rafique and gave him a warning. When Rafique brothers refused to oblige him, he arrested Saad Rafique along with Javaid Hashmi, Khawaja Hasaan and Aftab Asghar Dar through the Lahore police and ordered that they be tortured. Saad Rafique still remembers that police officials in Model Town police station, Lahore, told him that they were beating him on the orders of Nadeem Ejaz.

One day, Nadeem Ejaz summoned PML-N leader Tehmina Daultana and her late husband Zahid Wahla in camp jail, Lahore, and asked them to stop supporting Begum Kulsoom Nawaz. This meeting was taking place in the office of jail chief. When Javaid Hashmi came back to jail after appearing in an accountability court, he heard Nadeem Ejaz shouting at Tehmina Daultana. Javaid Hashmi was told that this meeting was going on for many hours. He crashed the door of the jail chief’s office and tried to grab Nadeem Ejaz by his neck. According to Javaid Hashmi, “The brave Nadeem Ejaz locked himself in the bathroom of the jail chief and the same night I was blindfolded, my hands were cuffed behind my back and I faced torture for the whole night.”

Another victim of Nadeem Ejaz was Senator Pervez Rashid. This soft-spoken politician was tortured at Sarwar Road police station. Pervez Rashid told this correspondent, “I have no doubt that Nadeem Ejaz was the person behind the worst ever torture I faced in my political life.”

According to police sources, one day Nadeem Ejaz recorded the cries of Pervez Rashid during torture on a small tape recorder and gave lot of money to an Army Subedar as reward who had tortured the senator. Pervez Rashid is sure that Nadeem Ejaz recorded his screams for Musharraf.

For the next few years, he remained posted in Lahore and was promoted as a brigadier there. He became DG of MI in February 2005. He was given the task to win the local bodies elections for the Musharraf loyalists. During the local bodies election of 2005, he developed differences with CM Punjab Pervaiz Elahi. Nadeem Ejaz was supporting Sardar Aqil Umar in one town of Lahore while Pervaiz Elahi was supporting Sardar Kamil Umar. Ultimately, Kamil Umar won the election and Nadeem Ejaz became an enemy of the CM Punjab. One day, the MI kidnapped the real brother of MPA Ilyas Gujar from Kasur, who was very close to Pervez Elahi. Brother of the MPA was released after five days when CM Punjab directly approached Pervez Musharraf for help. That was not the end. After a few days, the MI kidnapped the security guards of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain when they were coming back from the Lahore Airport after dropping Salik Hussain and Moonis Elahi. A military vehicle collided with the jeep of Salik Hussain, who was not present inside. Some of the guards were arrested and tortured. CM Punjab called Nadeem Ejaz and requested to release his people but there was no mercy. Nadeem Ejaz refused to release them and said that they were gangsters and CM’s son Moonis Elahi was the leader of these gangsters. Again it was Musharraf who ordered Nadeem Ejaz to release the security guards of Shujaat.

Nadeem Ejaz developed more differences with Shujaat Hussain when PML-Q leaders tried to make peace with late Nawab Akbar Bugti in 2006 through talks. Many PML-Q leaders have told this correspondent that at the first stage, Nadeem Ejaz used them for easing down the tension but when Bugtis vacated some important trenches around Dera Bugti after talks, Nadeem Ejaz started bombing the area and forced Bugti to take refuge on mountains. They held Nadeem Ejaz responsible for the death of Akbar Bugti and said that they were even ready to provide evidence in any court of law against Nadeem Ejaz.

He was the one who advised Musharraf to call Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry to the Army House and demand his resignation. When Justice Iftikhar refused, it was Nadeem Ejaz who pressured him directly. The same evening when Chaudhry Shujaat met Justice Iftikhar and tried to settle down the problem, it was Nadeem Ejaz who sent lifters to the residence of the CJP and moved his official vehicles away from the house. On the morning of March 12, Nadeem Ejaz ordered the Islamabad administration that Justice Iftikhar should not reach the Supreme Court. When the CJP came out of his residence, he was manhandled by officials in plainclothes.

PML-Q leaders are also ready to say that a plan was hatched to park big vehicles to stop the convoy of Justice Iftikhar and then attack the convoy on May 5, 2007 near Kharian on the GT Road. Nadeem Ejaz wanted the Chaudhrys of Punjab to provide some mercenaries to start firing on the vehicle of Aitzaz Ahsan to show their loyalty to Musharraf. Again, the CM Punjab refused to become a part of the plan.

This plan was implemented by Nadeem Ejaz in Karachi on May 12, 2007. According to sources in the MQM, Nadeem Ejaz used the whole provincial administration of Sindh to implement the plan in Karachi and finally MQM was held responsible for the whole mayhem.

Major General Nadeem Ejaz also submitted an affidavit against Justice Iftikhar in the court and claimed that the chief justice wanted Musharraf to dissolve the assemblies and hold elections under him. This affidavit proved to be a lie in the court. After the imposition of emergency on November 3, 2007, Nadeem Ejaz was the one who was directly and indirectly meeting with many judges of the superior courts and convinced many of them to accept Abdul Hameed Dogar as the new chief justice. Some of the “Dogar Judges” are now part of the Supreme Court and they may have a soft corner for Nadeem Ejaz.

Ejaz was also involved in media affairs. He helped in arranging funds and investors in the launching of at least two pro-Musharraf TV channels in 2007. He threatened and blackmailed many journalists through different means and tortured some of them after getting them kidnapped.

Many Baloch leaders alleged that Nadeem Ejaz was responsible for rigging the 2008 elections in many constituencies of Balochistan. They say that he did it directly on the orders of Musharraf and not Kayani. Sources in the military establishment claimed that Kayani fired at least three colonels from the ISI who were trying to help some politicians during the elections 2008 but the MI chief clearly violated his policy. It is important to note that Kayani became Army chief on November 29th, 2007 just a few weeks before the election and it was difficult for him to immediately change the DG MI.

It was also learnt on good authority that Nadeem Ejaz suggested to Musharraf secretly in April 2008 to replace Kayani with someone else. Musharraf discussed this possibility with some of his close aides but could not implement it because DG ISI Nadeem Taj was not ready to help him. The UN Commission has given a clean chit to DG ISI Lt Gen Nadeem Taj and former DG IB Brig (retd) Ejaz Shah. The UN Commission directly interviewed Ejaz Shah in February 2010 and now Ejaz Shah has also joined the FIA investigations but Nadeem Ejaz has not faced any investigation.

The top leadership of PPP, PML-N and PML-Q is in contact with each other on the investigation issue of Nadeem Ejaz. They want the government to, at least, start another probe against former DG MI in connection with his alleged role in the killing of Akbar Bugti. They think that this is the right opportunity for political leadership to prove that Pakistan has changed and now the Army officers are also accountable like politicians.

  • Right on the target:

Osama seeks FIR against Hamid Mir, Osman Punjabi
    26 May 2010

    Daily Times Monitor

LAHORE: Osama Khalid, son of Khalid Khawaja, on Tuesday submitted an application in the Shalimar Police Station for registration of an FIR against TV talk show host Hamid Mir and suspected terrorist Osman Punjabi for the murder of his father, a private TV channel reported.

Khalid Khawaja, a former Inter-Services Intelligence official, was murdered by a relatively less-known Asian Tigers militant group on April 23.

Osama alleged that the talk show host had instigated the terrorists to murder his father. He said the application was based on the audiotape of Mir’s conversation with a member of the Taliban, and he was ready to prove in court that the audio clip was original.

    http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010\05\26\story_26-5-2010_pg1_7

  • Some international assistance scrambled for Mir’s case:

unless there has been a thorough analysis of the original recording (In the Gongadze case, IPI was originally given a third-generation tape, an analogue tape of an analogue tape from the playback of a digital recording), it is almost impossible to authenticate the tape.

This information should give pause for thought to those in the Mir case who have already said that the tapes appear to be authentic! What type of recording did they listen to? What type of analysis did they undertake to reach their conclusion?

In addition, there is also a body known as the International Organization of Computer Evidence (IOCE).

The IOCE applies principles to recordings such as the principle that the delivery of digital evidence should come from a forensically competent individual, and that there should be a detailed chain of custody for the purposes of legal action.

In the murky world of Pakistan’s political and military world, it is difficult to believe that these principles have been applied. Once again, this has not stopped individuals making accusations against Mir without first analyzing the evidence.

In the Gongadze case, the analysis of the tapes was deeply frustrating because it involved an attempt to find the murderers of a journalist. In Mir’s case, there is a sense of accusation and counter-accusation with little room for the truth to appear.

In the absence of contrary evidence, and taking into account the notorious difficulties of examining audio tape, there should at least be a reasonable doubt applied to the accusations against Mir.

Sadly, what Mir could reasonably expect to receive in a court of law is something that he has not so far received before the court of public opinion.

    http://www.freemedia.at/singleview/4958/

  • The only good thing I see in this (half) explanation is Hamid Mir’s identification and acknowledgement of those responsible for the release of the audiotape. That is, his friends in the Military Intelligence and the ISI.

However, this does not mean that the conversation never took place.

This also does not mean that Mir’s views on Khalid Khwaja, Qadianis and the USA are different to what he expressed in the audio tape.

Also, Mir has been very selective in producing his statements and articles in the above letter.

For example, he could have candidly expressed his soft views on Shaikh Osama Bin Laden and his harsh views on liberal fascists.

Ironically, it is a liberal fascist blog (LUBP) which is defending Mir’s case, i.e., he deserves a fair inquiry. On the other hand, it is his friends in the right wing (ISI, MI, Zaid Hamid mafia etc) who are thirsty for Mir’s blood.

Ansar Abbasi quotes above in Jasmin Manzoor Program that He talked with Hamid Mir and Hamid said that its not his voice and then Ansar deny himself that Hamid also said that as per Hamid Mir “some of his old calls were mixed and rejoined!!! What a Tragedy. Is this what you call Colleague or Professional Courtesy. Shame on you Mr. Ansar.

Hamid Mir in Washington Times gives clean chit to the PPP Government and Ansar say that Hamid says that TOP PPP Woman is involved???? LOL What a joke.

  • correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think that pakistani rules of evidence allow this tape from an unknown source to be used in a court of law?

  • Rabia : correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think that pakistani rules of evidence allow this tape from an unknown source to be used in a court of law?

Anonymous sources are not considered worthy enough to be presented in the Court but where would one put the confusing statement of Mr Mir, and indicting statement of Mr Talat Hussain and Ansar Abbasi and above Khalid Khawaja’s son’s open press statement.

  • Khalid khawja was a high rank office in Pakistan Air force ,and He was in the ISI ,Now he is killed by some groups in Wazirstan and His Son is accusing Hamid Mir for his murder and giving the audio tape as evidence .
    My Question is
Why Supreme court are not taking any action ?
Why Police do not arrest Hamid Mir for investigation ?
Why the Army is Silent ?

  • By writing against his own mentors, Hamid Mir crossed the line. Further, the release of the tape may also be attributed to the internal rift between various intelligence agencies in Pakistan. For example, the following article:

A debate is now raging in Pakistani media circles about who taped the conversation between Hamid Mir and the TTP, and why was the tape leaked. According to some journalists, the outing of Hamid Mir also exposes the deep rifts within Pakistan’s intelligence agencies, namely the ISI, the Military Intelligence and the Intelligence Bureau. Any one of them could be trying to embarrass the other as Hamid Mir is said to have had livewire links with all of them. Another theory has it that the whole purpose was to expose the Islamists within Pakistan’s intelligence agencies by those sections in the ISI, MI and IB aligned with the either the US or China — sort of an ‘ideological’ war which has now come into the open. This is discounted by knowledgeable members of Pakistan’s commentariat who believe, and perhaps rightly so, that there is little that divides Pakistani intelligence agencies and their operatives ‘ideologically’; any alliance with either the Americans or the Chinese is purely tactical and does not automatically denote rejection or repudiation of Islamism.

The fine print, really, is inconsequential. The fact remains that Hamid Mir is more than just chief of Geo TV; he is also in cahoots with Pakistani intelligence agencies and has strong links with organisations like the TTP which are considered ‘strategic assets’ by sections of the Islamabad-Rawalpindi political-military-jihad complex.

    Aamir Mughal :

Farhad Ahmed Jarral :Muhammad Maalik in his program “Kehne mai kia harj hy’ said that Prime Minister have to take action against that website which has published the Conversation Tape on web and circualted it. He added that Intelligence Bureu can find out the persons who published this tape on their website.

But Hamid Mir didn’t even mention LUBP in his email to Washington Times [Correct me if I am wrong]

You’re right he didn’t mentioned LUBP but last day when i was watching Maaliks’ show, Hamid Mir and Maalik both were trying to convince PM to catch us through IB sources.

In our very first article on this topic (Hamid Mir’s audio tape), we wrote:
    http://criticalppp.com/archives/10918

“It is pertinent to mention that the audio conversation presented in this post appears to be an intentional leak by the Punjabi Taliban or the ISI (first posted on the ISI fan page on facebook). While the exact intentions of this leak are not known, readers / listeners are ‘advised to exercise caution’ in drawing any conclusions.”

Thus, Hamid Mir and his well wishers are better advised to focus their attention on someone who is most probably operating the ISI fan page on facebook from Islamabad’s Aabpara Chowk or from Rawalpindi’s Laal Haveli.

    May the truth prevail.

ISLAMABAD: The report of the UN fact-finding commission says the then Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO), Saud Aziz, had ordered to hose down the scene of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination at the Liaquat Bagh on the order of the chief of the Military Intelligence of the time, Major General Nadeem Ijaz, who was not only a relative of Pervez Musharraf but also a known crony of the former dictator.

  • ISI should arrest Hamid Mir; Jang Group should first pay Sales Tax to the FBR and then talk about ethics, politics and all. Jang Group appears to be messing around with everyone in this state, is clearly dancing to the tunes of their Jewish fathers abroad. Stern action has to be taken now. FBR/PEMRA/ARMY ought to initiate action against this group instantaneously.

  • Geo News has withheld million of rupees in terms of withholding sales tax on commercial advertisement from sundry clients, but didn’t pay a single penny to the government and when FBR officials tried to arrest their directors, they approached Sindh High Court which granted them a stay order against FBR’s lawful measure to arrest them. — This is the real face of Geo News that cries a lot, and represents poverty-stricken population of Pakistan; however, doesn’t contribute a single penny to the national treasury for welfare of the same poor people.

  • sarah i have never heard about all these facts that u mention earlier…so some peole r always above the law…….shit man so much dirt……hamarah to ALLAH hi hafiz hai….

  • Hamid Mir’s writings and channel programs are like CHORE MACHAI SHORE. He is crying wolf now that he has been caught red handed convincing a terrorist to kill khalid khawaja. It is a story of Dollars and Dollars and Dollars. It seems that all the people who are abusing US and CIA are actually playing their games. From Hamid Gul to Khalid Khaja, from Hamid Mir to Kamran Khan, Ansar abbasi, Shahid Masood and Najam Sethi etc, from Munawwar Hassan to Nawaz sharif and Imran Khan all are playing their role assigned by their master The Great Devil the USA.Their sole purpose is to destabilise Pakistan. Benazir Butto fell victim to these very forces. Khalid Khawaja was murdered to prevent him spilling the beens about the greatest tragedy of BB’s murder.

  • Akhtar…. I see… so u lot are those lousy gits hired by retart Fouzia wahab to run PPP’s cyber propaganda wing…. 🙂

Ur comment that this liberal blog is advocating Hamid Mir… Hahahhahaahhaahhahaahahaha
    What a pathetic joke…
Ahhhhhhhhh….. like ur ministers, you also have lost the plot… in justifying ur mendiciousness…. you ppl can go to any limit to distract ppl and to decieve them.

Let me tell you… why you gezeers are (pretending/claiming) to help Hamid Mir by bringing this here on ur blog… Its the only one thing in his email ( unveiling Gen’s involvement in BB’s assasination) which is why you shared this email here…

yea yea… go on and call me agent of ISI, CIA, Taleban, CJ, Nawaz or something else ridiculous.

Pitty for the nation, whose learned and enlightened are trying to justify and glorify the tyrany of crooks.

  • Hamid Mir is concocting stories just like he did in his audio tape. He’s good at that with vivid imagination. He will lie till his face is blue to get out of any situation.

  • @Shah Jee More than 10 million people voted for the PPP. Yes, all of us have been bought by the ideology and courage of shaheed ZAB and shaheed BB. Followers of Maududi and Zia-ul-Haq can never understand that.

  • Ppl voted for PPP???? hahahahhaahah wot a joke again….

Yea… I have seen sheep like masses electing that crooked Jamshed Dasti despite his Bogus degree and his pathetic morals and level of knowledge…
Now dont say that others r like this and that so why Jamshed Dasti ???

    As Aitizaz says:
In Democracy its your vote which counts… in feudalism (pakistani democracy) its your count who vote. 🙂
Bhutto was a man of caliber and principals… who never did any corruption nor used any bogus degrees of did his politics on deads… he prides himself in honesty… but unfortunately current PPP has nothing which could be related to the ideology of Bhutto… I bet, Bhuttos would be rolling in their graves with anguish by seeing what kind of pseudo leaders and more precisely some crooks have hijacked his name and are doing mischief in their names.

  • Hamid mir venom against maj.gen. Nadeem ijaz is just an effort to win the sympathies of PPP,PML(N), and other political forces, a failed attempt to convince any one that the voice on tape is not his.His explanations are showing that from inside he is a very coward person and trying to manfacture more lies.Of course all GEO TV anchors are excellent in manufacturing lies, this is their only qulification.Hamid mir and his coleagues SLOGAN is!!!JHOOT ITNA BOLO KE SUCH NAZAR AIYA.

  • @Shah Jee

Get your facts right please. Dasti is not a feudal; actually those defeated by him (Nawabzadah Nasrullah Khan’s son and Ghulam Mustafa Khar) are feudal.

However, this won’t matter to you. Pakistani population has consistently rejected the Maududian and Ziaist thought in Pakistan. That’s why any one who hates the PPP also hates the Pakistani public and democracy.

Finally, it is so amusing to see General Zia-ul-Haq’s children worried about ZA Bhutto and his party.

Leave the party to its leaders and workers. We are taking good care of it. Thanks for your concern, no thanks.

  • How Cute… U ‘assumed’ that I’m a Jamati or Taleban just coz I criticized your crooked leaders and party…. hahhahahahaahhaa
Do you know who I’m ??? where i’m from??? what I do??? 🙂
This shows the caliber of PPP thinkers 🙂

No wonder why PPP is doomed 🙂
Yea… Jamshed dasti is a goon… a transport contractor and land mafia hooker.
and let me show u light… how he won.. he run his free transport for few days in villages to get the votes out of sheep like masses… thats how he won….. and u shud be ashamed of his name related to PPP if u have any moral grace or call urself follower of Bhutto.
And yea… Fuedals are changing faces…. like before they were landlords…. now they r joind by transport mafia, land mafia and cartels like MQM and other industrialists….. but all r same in nature CROOKED

and its a pitty how the world has lost its sense of imagination and neutrality…
like due to my criticism of PPP, u took me as maududian or wot ever u name it…. this is nothing more but lack of moral imagination and failure of Democratic norm of empythy and respect.

There is a very beautiful qoute by Arundhati Roy (I bet you dont know her nor do u read any books other wise you wont have dared to call me Taleban or maududi or wotever)
“To call someone “anti-American”, (or for that matter, anti-Indian or anti-Timbuktuan) is not just racist, it’s a failure of the imagination. An inability to see the world in terms other than those the establishment has set out for you. The establishment states: “If you’re not a Bushie you’re a Taliban. If you don’t love us, you hate us. If you’re not Good, you’re Evil. If you’re not with us, you’re with the terrorists.”

  • I’m not here for Mullahs/Judiciaiary/Brass nor for crooks.(politicians)

Alhumdolillah… Islam has given me conscious and western education has given me the ability to think reciprocaly… and by combining both… I am able to refute both fascist mullaism and crooked democracy.

Mullaism (so called) and Judiciary and missused by Top Brass (army) of Pak.
So I dont blame those two poor factions of pakistan…
    for me….
on one hand its Establishment… and on other its Crook politicians… but after years of profound study of religion, history, sociiology, politics, military … I m convienced that its the Politicians who are responsible for all this chaos.
In my circle, I have both politicians and Brass. so I have all the 1st hand experiance and I dont talk out of my stomach like most of Political Juhala or brainwashed of Brass.

You should read the military history books of France and Russia and would learn that it was indeed the corrupt Nobels (politicians) who forced Brass to use the shoulder of clergy or socilists to climb to the pannicals of power.

Read : ” We have learnt nothing from History, Pakistan, Politics and Military Power” By M. Asghar Khan ……. and you’ll come to know the reality of your esteemed ‘leaders’

On equal notes… I would like you to ask your selves questions and think over them on reciprocal lines….
Who enabled these military dictators (who then use Mulla as a tool) to gain power???

Its your these political, self serving, egoestic, imperialist nature Crooked Leaders.

Had’t it been Gen Ayub in power if a Politician wasnt licking his shoes… same goes for Yahya when Bhutto was licking his shoes (watch his interview regarding Yahya after Yaha took power)
Zia ul Haq wouldnt have been a dictator and ruiner of this country if Bhutto had’t oversaw 3 other senior Generals ( as they were honest and wouldnt let Bhutto does his monoply while zia was a ‘khushamdi kutta’ the term used by bhutto for him)

Same happened with Nawaz shareef when he dumped Gen Ali Quli and Gen Talpur and 3 others (forcefully retired to pave way for Musharraf) Pakistan woudlnt have seen the most coward commando and morally corrupt dictator in its History…. Thanks to our political parties who let him rule for a decade and let him ruin this country.

When you try to temper a system… System will temper you. Zardari gona endup the same way… I damn care about him but I’m worried about this God for saken country which is every now and then raped by These crooked Politicians and Top Brass.

And Mind you all… siding evil… All you’ll be responsible in the court of Lord of the Lords. You have to justify all this there…. will you be able to you????

  • And about Pakistan’s Crooked Top Brass Crooked / Political Gov….
Renowned Strategist and Management Guru Dr. Roberts says:

At Washington’s behest, the government of Pakistan is conducting war against its own people, killing many and forcing others to flee their homes and lands. The Pakistani government’s war against its own citizens has caused military expenses to soar, putting Pakistan’s budget deep in the red. Deputy US Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin ordered the Pakistani government to raise taxes to pay for the war against its own people. The puppet ruler, Asif Ali Zardari, complied with his American master’s orders. Zardari declared a broad-based value added tax on virtually all goods and most services in Pakistan. Thus, Pakistanis are forced to finance a war against themselves.
(Printed in : ” Foreign Policy Journal ”
Dr. Roberts was assistant secretary of the U.S. Treasury in the Reagan administration, associate editor of the Wall Street Journal, Senior Research Fellow in the Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and held the William E. Simon Chair in Political Economy, Center for Strategic and International Studies, Georgetown University.
I guess you cant accuse him of lying and being Anti-PPP 😉

  • Hamid Mir Responds to False and Malicious News of The Washington Times

“Major-General Nadeem Ijaz Ahmad, ex-Chief of Pakistan Army’s Military Intelligence (MI) agency, also allegedly assassinated PPP Chairwoman Benazir Bhutto in 2007, but the ruling PPP corrupt dictatorship of convicted criminal Asif Ali Zardari and convicted criminal Yousuf Raza Gilani deliberately failed to arrest Nadeem Ijaz Ahmad in 2008, 2009, or 2010, for the murders of Benazir and 24 other innocent Pakistani people, who were also killed in the terrorist attack on Benazir Bhutto by the PMLQ-MQM corrupt military tyranny of Pakistan Army’s ex-Chief Tyrant, ex-General Pervez Musharraf, and PML-Q ex-PM Shaukat Aziz.”

  • @Shah Jee Sorry if I stepped on your tail. But by writing against the people of Pakistan and insulting their mandate, you have demonstrated that you are indeed a Ziaist and Talibanist, if not explicitly but indeed in your soul.

I dare you to come out, and state who do you support? Another military saviour Zia-ul-Haq mardood? or Mullah Omar maloon? or Munawar Hassan makrooh? Say it; don’t shy away.

  • Akhtar saib…. ur kind of jackals can only dream of coming near me let alone stepping on my tail…:)

Pakistan’s population is 180 Millions… ur PPP stands on 10 million (as u stated above in one of ur comment) that tells every thing. 🙂

Read the poem above… you’ll learn who I’m and what I want… (if u have any common sense 😉
I know its very difficult for ur small & rusted brains to comprehend what I’m and what I want for the ppl.
But I assure you… for me Poison is equally lethal as Guns are… the only difference is one erode and kill the other bollow up at once… so I dont side any 😉

  • and one more…. who and what ever I’m…. I speak my mind…. I’m neither paid by crooks nor do i could be lured by the promise of 70 virgins. 😉

I know… Now u’ll say that u have to side one party….. OK

    wellllll…..

Comparing two evils and then going for one coz other is the killer of few thousand ppl .. but what about the slow poison (Politicians/ Top Brass) who are the Rapists of 180 million ppl and Nation from Last 63 years???

Hadnt we had These crooks (Politicians) …and the vaccume they created by their inability to deliver (the promises they made… there wont be any unchallengeable fascist power hungry Brass (establishment) in control of this Doomed country. Neither would have they created vicious elements within the society (it is proven that swat Taleban were created by notorious agencies which were then cultivated by current corrupt regime for $$$$…. the man made disaster of 3 million IDPs)

On equal note… the ppl of Pakistan are equally responsible for all these crimes…. sheep like masses don’t have any brains to assess and differentiate…
Its very easy to brush someone with the very pathetic stereotypes of Liberal if he speaks against one side…. or when he try to think from the perspective of another… he is then equally termed Taleban by the initial group.

There is no neutrality allowed in this world now adays… its like as BUSH said to the world in post 9/11 saga…. EITHER YOU ARE WITH US OR THEM.

The same theme is adopted by the confused and God for saken masses of Pakistan… they have lost the plot without any reciprocal view or thinking.
To pull eachother down… they r siding evils…. either on one side or other. there is no middle way… why is it so????

Arundhati roy has a very beautiful Quote in the above scenario:::::::

  • And yes…. Talk to me ‘Objectively’ Rather then ‘Subjectively’ / Emotionally ) and that also with concrete proofs & principled methodology. ( I bet there is no word ‘principals’ in the dictionary of current PPP as their master Zardari says that principals and promisses are not Quran wo Hadees which should be followed 😉

  • I am totally agree with you Akhter sahib, these are all agent of America but oppose America concealing their actual picture from public. When they observe Pakistan has been developing they spread propaganda against democratic government. I was very much optimistic from media but discourage us by playing with agencies and establishment. I am only support of democracy, when you listen some anchor on Geo and other TVs shows, they are justifying of politician as corrupt, but fact is that we are all part of society. We have to show our commitment for strengthening democracy, it is only way to make a haven for all people of Pakistan.

    Nabi Bux Zardari

  • Not only Hamid Mir is on parole of institutions and agencies but whole Jag Group is blackmailer, it has earn million rupees from number of institutions, IS I, CIA, Raw all are supporters of Geo TV. Their agenda is only earn money not country respect. Democracy has required time to firm their roots but when democracy is in transformation period people wants to derail it.

I suggest, all institutions have work under his limits don’t degrade other institutions in the name of justice, if constitution have providing immunity to president, leave it because he is elect president of Pakistan. Peoples of Pakistan give mandate to him to service for beloved nation. Supreme Court have their limit don’t be over confident it is not strong as some people think. They have time to control yourself not be used in the hands of religious political parties and other non serious and non practical politicians.

  • @Akhtar When Jahangir Khan opened the doors of journalism for me it was 1978, which makes it — awful thought — 32 years ago. That’s how long I have been in this profession, without which I wouldn’t have known what to do with my life. And if there’s one thing I have seen in all this time it is the advent of false dawns, promising the brightness of the sun but turning soon to storm and tragedy.

Zia promised Islam and gave the nation hypocrisy and the wages of medievalism. Benazir Bhutto held out the promise of hope and national redemption but ended up being associated with high-flying corruption. Nawaz Sharif had the power to do much good when he was elected with a ‘heavy mandate’ in 1997 but his term ended in tears and another military dictatorship. The 2008 elections promised change and a fresh start but the performance of the national leadership, such as we have, has been less than sterling.

Now we are witnessing another false dawn in the sense that a section of the middle class is expecting the judiciary to be the herald of change. This is a wrong expectation. If politics is not delivering, it is the face of politics which needs to be changed. If politicians are not delivering, their ranks must be reshuffled through the better use of the power of the vote. If politics lacks imagination and poetry, these qualities must be worked into its fabric. Which makes it incumbent upon us to cultivate a better variety of politics in our garden because it is politics which will always be the primary agent of change.

  • TV anchor questioned in Khwaja murder case By Munawer Azeem Friday, 28 May, 2010 http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/front-page/tv-anchor-questioned-in-khwaja-murder-case-850

ISLAMABAD: Investigators looking into a complaint lodged by Osama Khalid, the son of former ISI official Khalid Khwaja who was found murdered last month, approached television anchor Hamid Mir on Thursday and questioned him about allegations levelled against him by the victim’s son, sources told Dawn.

On May 25, Osama Khalid had lodged a complaint against Mr Mir, Usman Punjabi and a militant group called Asian Tigers, alleging that they were involved in the murder of his father.

During the interrogation, the sources said, Mr Mir denied any acquaintance with a man named Usman Punjabi. He also denied having ever talked to the man by phone, the sources said, adding that the voice in the audio-tape had been forged.

The sources quoted the investigators as saying that they would now quiz the complainant, Osama Khalid, on Friday to clear some ‘doubtful queries’. The investigators said that Osama Khalid had not approached the police since lodging his complaint and that a request made to him to furnish evidences, including the audio-tape, of the allegation mentioned in the complaint, had yet to be fulfilled.

The sources said that in his complaint, Osama Khalid had said his father had gone to tribal areas at the urging of Mr Mir and after the release of audio-tape in which the TV anchor had allegedly talked with Usman Punjabi, the matter should be investigated.

Ayaz Ahmad Sayal, Osama Khalid’s lawyer, said that Shalimar police had given them a number registered in the police daily diary after the submission of the complaint.

But, he said, the complainant wanted the registration of a case and action against TV anchor, Usman Punjabi and the Asian Tigers.

He claimed that the Shalimar police had approached the legal branch for advice as to under which section the case would be registered. The fate of the complaint would be clear within a couple of days, he said.
